THE SOCIETY OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES OF ANKARA

(FABAD)

FABAD was founded on June 14, 1966 in Ankara by pharmacists mainly from Academia. The general objective of the society is to follow the latest developments and knowledge in the Pharmaceutical Sciences area and to extend this knowledge to its members. First activities of the society was held in its first office at Selanik Caddesi No:3/9 Yenişehir/ANKARA.

The first Executive Committee with the titles at that time are as follows:

The first regulations of the Society was published on 17.6.1966 in a newspaper called “Economy” where the goal of the society was reported as : “To follow the latest developments in the Pharmaceutical Sciences area and to extend this knowledge to its members, to introduce, broaden and promote the scientific side of the profession in our country and to strengthen the social aspects of the profession”.

The first scientific meeting of the Society was a seminar that was given on 6.5.1967 by Prof. Dr. Enver İzgü about “The effects of plastic material on drugs and organism”.

Among many scientific activities that are organised by FABAD, the most important one is to publish the “FABAD Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences”. The journal was first published in 1970 with the name of “F.B.A.D. Bulletin”. Till 1980 it was published 2-3 times in a year. Starting from 1981, the name of the journal was changed to FABAD Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences” and was started to be published regularly, 4 times in a year. Since 2000, it has been published as FABAD Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences” in English regularly, 4 times in a year.

Today with its 410 members, FABAD is celebrating its 40th year.
