Fatma Sezer Senol Deniz, born in Bursa in 1985, graduated with a B. Sc. honor list from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Gazi University in 2007. She earned her M. Sc. degree in 2009 and Ph. D. degree in 2016 at the Department of Pharmacognosy at the same Faculty under the supervision of Prof. Ilkay Erdogan Orhan. During her master and Ph. D. studies, a national scholarship was provided by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). Some part of her doctoral thesis studies was awarded the “3rd Prize in the Category of Cosmetics, Soap and Cleansing Products” in the 2nd R&D Project Fair organized by Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ in 2012 and the “Citrus Special Award” in 4th International Food R&D Brokerage Event organized by Aegean Exporters’ Associations in 2016. She received “Encouragement Award” from the Academy of Pharmacy-Association of Turkish Pharmacists in 2017, as well as the “Outstanding Young Scientists Award (GEBIP) from the Turkish Academy of Science in 2020. She was promoted to Assoc. Prof. position by Higher Education Council of Turkey in 2018. She carried out her postdoctoral studies at the Austrian Drug Screening Institute (ADSI-Innsbruck/Austria) between September 2020 and March 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Günther Bonn. She has been working at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Gazi University, since 2009.
Her main research fields are phytochemical analysis and biological activities of medicinal plants (various in vitro enzyme inhibition models, antioxidant activities, and others) and the development of cosmetic formulations from herbal extracts.
