Dear Distinguished FABAD Members,

It is a great honor for me to have been chosen as President of FABAD for the 2004-2006 term. The coming years will no doubt present new challenges as well as exciting opportunities for the further advancement of the Association.

The Executive Committee constituted the Editorial Board of the FABAD Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and has appointed Prof. Dr. Selma Saraç to serve as Editor, and Prof. Dr. Ünsal Çalis and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Belma Giray as Associate Editors.

At this time I would like to acknowledge the valuable work of the previous Executive Committees, all of which have expended great efforts over the years to promote the best interests of FABAD. I assure you that I will strive to continue in their path, without changing the basic goals and aims of the Association.

My first objectives are to carry forward and expand the scientific activities of FABAD, to facilitate an increase in FABAD’s membership, and to work towards capacity building, drawing upon the diverse expertise of our members and encouraging them to increase their participation in more of the scientific or non-scientific activities of the Association.

As you are all aware, the main scientific undertaking of FABAD is publication of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Executive Committee is committed this term to not only broadening the Journal’s readership, but also to ensuring a continued increase in both Journal quality and scientific content. In this regard, the Executive Committee is fully confident that the newly appointed Editorial Board, under the capable guidance of Prof. Dr. Saraç, will achieve these aims. Other activities planned during the current term include scientific workshops, such as on bioequivalency, new approaches in patent registration, and research and development studies in the pharmaceutical industry, etc.

I am pleased to announce, as one of the first activities to be realized this term, the creation of a new FABAD webpage, which will no doubt positively advance many of FABAD’s goals. Not only will it serve to raise awareness of our Association and activities, planned online access to the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences will undoubtedly increase our readership. We anticipate launching of the website in the near future and will make an announcement in this regard in due course.

Again, I extend my deepest appreciation to all FABAD members for giving me this honor, and also commend the previous Executive Committee for their significant achievements. I look forward to personally meeting all members in the coming FABAD activities.
