Summary:
The prototypical agent, Ciglizatone, a 5-(4-alkoxybenzyl)thiazolidine-2,4-dione,
is a new antidiabetic agent structurally distinct from
the sulfonylureas and biguanides. The investigations on
these compounds which show antidiabetic activitiy by enhancing
insulin sensivitiy are stil in progres. In this study, the
antidiabetic effects, structure-activity relationship
and metabolism of the recently developed 2,4-TZD derivatives
were investigated.
