Summary:
Tablets containing flutamide are being imported to Turkey
and available on the Turkish drug market. Flutamide tablets
are specifically being used in the treatment of prostate
cancer.
Only two different brands of flutamide tablets and a few
batches belonging to them have already been available
on the market.
In this study, the physical parameters and in vitro dissolution
rates of flutamide tablets from three batches of two different
brands were investigated. The dissolution behaviours of
the drug released from the tablets were studied in proposed
medium and in addition, in the gastrointestinal medium.
According to the results obtained, the differences among
the batches were evaluated. The results obtained indicated
that all the tablets tested met the criteria specified
by physical parameters. However a significant difference
between the batches of F coded brand was found concerning
the in vitro dissolution rate.
