Ayşegül Köroğlu was born in 1966 in Haymana (Ankara). She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy, which she started to study in 1983, in September 1987. In the same year, she started her Master Degree studies in the Department of Pharmacognosy and completed her PhD in 1996 in the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany. She became assistant professor in 1999, associate professor in 2005 and professor in 2010 at the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany. She enrolled as a visiting researcher at King’s College London, UK from June 2002 to September 2002.

Her research interests include medical plants, plant anatomy, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of plants. She has 48 publications in journals that are defined as SCI (Science Citation Index), 11 book chapters, 46 publications in national journals, full-text articles in 4 abstract books and more than 150 oral presentations in national and international symposiums. She is the editor of “Başkent Oluşunun 90. Yılında Ankara: 1923-2013, 7-8 October 2013, Ankara” symposium book (2014) which was dedicated to the 90 years of Ankara as the capital city. She is one of the editors of the 3rd edition of FFD Monographs, Plants and Effects. She has been a member of the editorial board of Turkish Journal of Botany since 2012 and African Journal of Plant Science since November 2018. She also served as a member of the scientific advisory board of six international and four national journals. She served at Ministry of Health Turkey Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency as a scientific consultant in the Medical Plant List Evaluation Commission from 2011 to 2016 and also at “Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Advisory Committee” as scientific advisor between 2013-2016. She was the deputy director of Ankara University Ankara Studies Research and Application Center (ANKAMER) between 2009-2016. He was a member of the faculty board for two semesters. She was the secretary general of The Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ankara (FABAD) in the period of 2008-2010; member of the Board of Directors in the period of 2010-2014 and vice president in the 2014-2016 period. On June 21, 2018, she was elected as the chairman of the association. She is a member of Flora Research Association. She taught post graduate courses in Near East University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Botany in 2012-2013 (Cyprus) and in Medipol University, Istanbul in in the 2016-2017. Professor Dr. Köroğlu is also a member of Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy Association and Turkish Pharmacists Association. She has been working as the founder Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences since 11 September 20018.She is the mother of Ipek (1993) and Erdem (1998).
